While I¹m at it, is there only one CD by ³Have Mercy²? I have an SBS
but I
haven¹t worked it in on a song yet. Are there any other good SBS
recordings
with just one harp? I see it more with acoustic than electric.
We recorded an LP with Have Mercy in 1977 when we were young and
crazy, raving acoustic stuff, but it's been deleted for many years.
Pity really, I wanted to re-release it but in the end the band hasn't
performed since the mid 90s, so it would be hard to sell enough to
make it worthwhile. The CD came out a mere 16 years after the LP in
1993 when we reformed for a while.
Regarding recordings with the SBS tuning, I used SBS harps quite a
bit with Chris Jones, our CDs have some cool stuff featuring this
tuning including versions of “Bourgeois Blues”, “Mean Old Frisco”,
“Old Folks' Boogie”, “The L&N Don't Stop Here Any More” and “Coal
Tattoo” as well as several of Chris' original numbers. Info & short
sound bytes are on my website. I often used to play the 14-hole SBS
electric, but it's hard to get a good enclosure so nowadays I usually
play it acoustic. I now prefer the tuning in the 10-hole version for
this reason and a number of customizers have made them like that over
the years,
